Tuesday,
March 27, 2007 Well, we went to
Nelson School before the meeting and still made
it over to town hall a little early.
With time to kill, a few of us stood out front
and watched Lyle fly his skeeter for a bit.
Before the meeting was called to order, Bob still
had a few tickets to sell for that P51. Within
minutes the
last of the tickets were gone. Thank you to
everyone who bought tickets for the plane!
Lyle called the meeting to order at 7:02. The
notes from last month were read and approved
along with
the treasury report. No additions or corrections
needed to be made.
Lyle was quite anxious to take care of
the old business. First on his list was
to have the drawing for the P51.
Bob brought one of those wire wheel things that
they use for picking bingo numbers, and Jack came
up to
actually pick the number as he had not purchased
any ticket.
A couple of spins one way and a half a turn the
other - number 38 was picked. And the winner
is...
Todd O - yours truely, your faithfull webmaster.
Wether it was me or anyone else, I would be
saying the
same thing here - Thank you to all of you who
made the non-raffle giveaway a success. From Bob
for
selling the tickets and holding onto the plane to
all of you who bought tickets.
Other old business:
Fred Church had brought it to our attention last
month that he had a guy who had said he could
pave a
600 x 50 foot runway for us for $3600. Fred was
mistaken, but that's ok. The actual estimate was
$36,000
so it is not going to happen at those dimensions.
The club also has purchased their own Port-O-Jon
for out at the field. Instead of renting the unit
and paying
for someone to pump it out, we now own the unit
and only have to pay for periodic pumpings &
servicing.
The Wings of Mercy 2007 is going to be on June
2nd, starting at 8:00 AM and from what I
understand we are
going to need to be there by 7:00 AM to get
setup. Lyle said he would look into small items
for raffles and other
fun stuff to help with the event. Any questions
should be directed to Lyle or Gary.
We could not get the space at Twin Lake during
the Twin Lake festival, instead the space was
offered to us a week
later for a $100 donation. We have declined the
site for that date. The idea was to expose the
hobby to people
during the festival. For that the $100 would have
made more sense.
If anyone is looking for a small lake to fly from
- contact me and I can help get you out on Little
Black Lake over in
Norton Shores.
Our date for the Summer Fun Fly has been set for
June 23rd - with the 24th set as the rain date.
Grand Valley is having a fun fly on April 28th.
Any questions need to be directed towards Bob.
NEW BUSINESS:
The question of should the club buy a large
quantity of fuel was brought up. With discussion
the decision was to buy
a large quantity (probably around 54 gallons) of
fuel and distribute it among a few of the club
members for re-sale.
The fuel will be marked up about a dollar or so
to help the club make a few bucks. It will also
save the club members
a few dollars per gallon as well.
Bob & Todd are going to work together with
Bob's frequency sniffer and some solar panels
that Todd already has to
see if we are going to be able to have a solar
powered channel sniffer out at the field. It is
simply another way that
we might be able to save an airplane due to
frequency issues. Bob and Todd should be able to
tell us something at the
next meeting as to how well it will or will not
work. If it will work they should be able to have
a total estimated cost for
everyone to talk about and decide wether or not
it will be worth it. Look for the report next
month.
Sid Johnson has donated a lawnmower to the club.
Sid is very meticulous about his maintenance and
we should be
able to get a lot of grass cut with this generous
donation. Thank you Sid!
We also would like to welcome Lloyd Jones to the
club. Lloyd has been flying on and off for 40
years or so.
Welcome to the club Lloyd!!!
The meeting was ajourned at or near 8:00 or so.
